Patrick Murphy's Despicable Campaign Against Congressman Allen West

Lieutenant Colonel Allen West served 23 years in the Army protecting the American people.

Patrick Murphy is a 30 year, neer do well who is a member of what Donald Trump calls the “lucky gene” club. His dad, Thomas Murphy, Jr., is the President and co-founder of Coastal Construction Group, a large Miami based construction company.

Congressman West continues to serve the people after retirement. The Republican was elected to Congress in 2010 from Florida’s 22nd Congressional District (parts of Fort Lauderdale, Broward County and Palm Beach County). He is a Tea Party favorite, who does not mince words. Colonel West is a straight shooter who does not understand nuance or subtlety.

A classic Allen West: “This is a battlefield that we must stand upon and we need to let President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and my dear friend, the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, we need to let them know Florida ain’t on the table. Take your message of equality of achievement, and take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else. You can take it to Europe. You can take it to the bottom of the sea. You can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America.”

He heads the list of Republicans the Democrats want to defeat. Nancy Pelosi has said “How sweet would it be for the country” if Congressman West were defeated for reelection.

The Congressman’s response was that Congressman Pelosi is “somewhat delusional.”

Daddy gave Patrick a vice-presidency in the family business a few years ago, but is now trying to buy him a Congressional seat. Patrick was a Republican until January 2009 and gave $2,300 to Governor Romney’s 2008 Presidential Campaign. Patrick Murphy has not sought political office before.

Due to the vagaries of reapportionment, Congressman West decided to stand for reelection from the neighboring 18th Congressional District.

Patrick called the much decorated soldier a “coward” for changing districts. Patrick, it should be noted, is carpet bagging from Miami to run in the 18th.

This year’s elections, especially the Presidential election from the Obama Campaign, have descended into the gutter.

The Murphy campaign though is setting a new low. The American Sunrise PAC is running a TV ad showing a cartoon animated, but very realistic, Allen West in a boxing ring wearing red boxing gloves which he then proceeds to repeatedly pummel first an elderly woman and then a young woman in the face. The Congressman then steals money from a middle class family.

The dialogue includes “West has socked it to seniors, voting to end Medicare as we know it,” and “He’s whacked women with his votes for huge cuts in women’s health funding and he’s mauled middle class families.”

By itself, this ad is extreme but not unusual in election campaigns.

However, the ad is blatantly racist. The two women are white. Did I mention that Congressman West is one of the two African American Republican Congressmen? This ad has all the racial subtlety of some of the late Senator Jesse Helms’ ads.

The sole purpose of this PAC is to elect Patrick Murphy to Congress. The head of the PAC is daddy, who also donated $250,000 to run the ads.

Patrick Murphy, if elected, will fit in with many of the less talented members of Congress. Too bad Patrick Kennedy will no longer be in Congress.
